At The Burgess Hill Academy there are lots of musical opportunities to enjoy, such as joining a singing group or involvement in the Concert Band.
There are also opportunites to start learning an instrument, there are lots on offer. Years 7 and 8 provide students with the chance of spending time establishing the techniques before options and GCSEs start to become a time-consuming focus.
Visiting specialist teachers come to the school to teach students in small groups. The lessons are provided for a small termly payment (currently around £75.00 per student for group lessons). Lessons are available on:
Flute, Oboe, Clarinet, Bassoon, Saxophone, French Horn, Trumpet, Trombone, Tuba/baritone, Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass, Kit Drumming.

For those instruments outside the County scheme there are lessons available given by various visiting private teachers. The fees for these are agreed between the individual teacher and parents. Lessons are available on:
Piano, Keyboard, Guitar, Bass Guitar, Recorder, Violin, Theory Grades, Singing.

The Burgess Hill Academy Music Department has purchased a small number of saxophones, oboes, trumpets, trombones and baritones; which may be loaned FREE OF CHARGE to students who wish to learn them (depending on current availability). When you have been accepted for County lessons, please contact Mr Wood: firstname.lastname@example.org, to discuss availability. In other cases instruments may be hired from most reputable music shops.
