There are lots of opportunities to get involved in Extra Curricular Music Clubs.
It’s what it says on the tin, a singing group just for Year 7. Great fun and a way of enjoying learning new songs with people in your year. It is open to anyone in Year 7. It meets in A2 on Tuesday lunchtimes at 1.20pm.
This group is open to anyone who plays: flute, oboe, clarinet, bassoon, saxophone, trumpet, trombone, baritone (tuba), violin, viola, cello, double bass/bass guitar, drum kit. Being able to read music is advisable. It meets from 3.10 to 4.10pm on Wednesdays in A1. The band learns lots of pieces from pop classics to music from films and shows. Hard work but very rewarding. We are particularly looking for new Year 7s.
Mrs Frean runs this specialised singing group in A2 on Wednesdays at 1.20pm. Particularly aimed at experienced singers, membership is by invitation. Ask Mrs Frean if you are interested.
Strictly speaking this is more of a ‘drop in’. If you want to practise that piece you are learning in lessons, or just want to have some fun playing keyboard, just go along at lunchtime on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in A1. No more than two per keyboard.
If you play drums or guitar or sing, you might like to use a rehearsal room to practise. You can work in small groups or on your own, however the rooms are very popular so you must be there between 1.10 and 1.20pm. These are strictly for students who are rehearsing music and not as social areas. You must have permission from Mr Wood or Mrs Frean on that day and definitely no eating or drinking!
